Warena and the Metaverse

Metaverse is becoming a commonly used term these days amongst certain gaming platforms, as well as from tech giants such as Google and Facebook.

With Facebook officially rebranding to Meta, and Mark Zuckerberg’s push to steer his company into a VR future, it’s clear that metaverse is no longer just lip service.

The hype surrounding this term, and the possible future, needs an understanding of what is “hype” and what is “aspirational.”

To put it concretely, the metaverse, as it’s spoken about today, doesn’t necessarily exist. It is the dream for the future of the internet, while also summing up some trends in the growing real-time 3D world (game) industry.

Although there is no universally accepted definition for the term metaverse, the human race has been slowly working towards a solid understanding of what it might mean, and that it could someday soon be a reality — incredible considering it was Neal Stephenson who famously coined the term in his 1992 novel Snow Crash.

The concept grew into what most feel is a possible future of a metaverse when Ernest Cline published his 2011 novel Ready Player One.

Zuckerberg explicitly states that the realization of the metaverse dream will take the dedication of numerous corporations and companies of all sizes, over the course of many years to execute. This is not to mention the creation of an entire governance body to boot.

But Meta is not the first company to dream up the metaverse — indeed, numerous game companies have already started work on what their metaverse might be.

Warena’s Concept of the Metaverse

Warena has a vision that pertains to the growing and relatively new NFT gaming industry where it has placed itself. Currently, Warena and Illuvium is looking to have their NFTs cross-playable in their games. The reason why Warena can bring other IPs into the same world is that fundamentally the source code can transfer from one platform to the next.

Is it easy? No — and a lot of work will be necessary to bring everything together — currently, the Warena dev team is building towards the launch of its vision of what a metaverse will look like — one where your NFT can be utilized across a number of platforms.

The entire premise of utilizing the DAO system, which all the aforementioned games wish to implement, and to employ decentralized financing (crypto), simply means one thing — to place the majority of agency and power with the players and with the community that supports (a) project.

Growing a metaverse is merely linking all the like-minded people and communities into one, overarching society of P2E gamers, NFT collectors, and digital asset owners. Although the goal is further down the roadmap, it is still very much an important milestone not only for Warena to build towards but for every community of similar interests.

And, in case you missed it, Zuckerberg did state he wants NFTs to be supported in Meta as well!
